Optical Disks
Optical disks have various formats of recordable optical disc. All of these are based on using a laser for the changing the recording medium reflectivity. This is done to duplicate the lands and pits effects created when a commercial optical disc is being pressed. This optical disk is a CD or compact disk. Optical disk formatting dictates whether it is a CD, DVD, rewritable or read-only. They include cassette tapes, vinyl records, floppy disks and video tapes. These disks are the preferred medium for software, movies and music programs due to its various advantages. Optical disks are durable and lightweight.
